About Tallship Unicorn

Accommodations

At first glance, Unicorn's tallship square rigging and rakish lines carry the imagination back to the days of sailing explorations and broadside sea battles. But you will not be living the cramped, deprived life of the mutineers on the Bounty or the fighting men on Capt. Jack Aubrey's Surprise. Far from it.

Aft Salon

In its prior life as a sail training ship, Unicorn's accommodations consisted of plain and somewhat Spartan berths. In the winter of 2003, Unicorn came out of dry dock in the shipbuilding town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, with $600,000 in renovations designed to prepare her for a new life in Executive Sail Training and Private Charter.

Guest Cabins

Unicorn now has five luxurious guest staterooms: four midship guest rooms and a fifth larger owner's cabin aft. The new accommodations feature maple cabinetry and teak and holly cabin soles. Maple was chosen over mahogany for interior spaces to create a warm ambiance without being overly dark. All guest quarters now have their own heads and showers and comfortable queen-sized beds. And guests will appreciate the small touches. For example, interior lights have dimmer switches to help create the mood appropriate to the moment.
