This beautiful schooner is owned by Jay and Dawn Santamaria, a New Jersey husband and wife team of professionals that have blended years of business experience and commitment to executive coaching and development with their passion for sailing. Together with their four daughters, Brynn, Chelsea, Courtney and Samantha, they promote traditional tallship sail training and the preservation of maritime history through executive training programmes, festivals and community youth involvement programmes.
Jay is President and Chief Executive Officer of BeamPines, Inc., a national human resources consulting firm with offices in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Orlando and Philadelphia. He has over two decades of human resources experience at RJR Nabisco and IT&T's Continental Baking Company. Jay recruits, develops and mentors operating managers and executives in the US and abroad. Born in Rhode Island, the Ocean State, Jay has sailed since he was a young boy and is a graduate of Lafayette College.
Jay recognizes the parallel between a sailing voyage and the turbulent seas of today's business environment. "A sea voyage is a perfect metaphor for business life," says Jay. “No matter how carefully you forecast and plan your strategies for success, life at sea is full of challenges that test your skill, judgment, stamina, leadership and vision."
Dawn is a Business Management and Marketing graduate from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame. She owned and operated 2 corporate fitness facilities that catered to the demanding needs of business men and women who were looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Part of the services that her company provided was corporate team-building functions. Dawn currently serves as the Executive Director for Unicorn, responsible for marketing and operations.
